Sun Country Systems designed for the owner a Voltage play structure that had many fun components such as our buckle bridge, charade panel, pod walk, rock crawl and four playground slides.

A recently opened Christian school in the Corona Norco area of Riverside, California contracted with Sun Country Systems to not only design, but to provide and install its beautiful new playground. The owners of the school wanted to ensure that they built the best, safest and most innovative playground they could for their new school. As the playground is intended for ages 2-5 Sun Country Systems designed for the owner a Voltage play structure that had many fun components such as our buckle bridge, charade panel, pod walk, rock crawl and four playground slides. The slides included on this structure were our rock n roll slide, viper slide and triple rail slide. The play area also contains several stand alone events including a 2 seat arch swing, funnel ball, Rockit Tunnel and new Turtle top sand box. Our new turtle top sand box is unlike any other sand box on the market. It has a hard top that drops down and closes to protect the play area sand when not in use. The structure was also designed to include a 15’x21’ rectangle shade play shade structure to protect the little children from the harmful UV rays. Synthetic grass manufactured by Ameriturf Systems was installed under the playground area, giving the area the look of a real park.

After consulting with the customer and being provided with their “wish list” the playground projects are then designed for either age group 2-5 or 5-12 using various different play components. Most playground structures are designed incorporating playground slides, climbing walls, custom play panels, shade tops, swings and other independent play items. For the older kids we can incorporate more challenging and innovative components such as our Satellite and Amped Climbers, rock it climbers and overhead activities (traverses, Wheel Deal, Round-A-Bout and Rocking Snake).

Besides its continuing services to Riverside, Sun Country Systems is presently completing playground projects throughout California. Currently Sun Country Systems is installing a 5-12 year old structure for an apartment complex in Ontario, a 5-12 and 2-5 year old structure for a school district in San Bernardino, and 2-5 structures for 3 public housing locations in San Francisco. BCI Burke is manufacturing the playground equipment for these projects. Sun Country System is not only providing the playground equipment, but will be installing the equipment and protective surfacing. Upcoming projects include a private school in Los Angeles, a public school in Madera and a daycare in Alameda and a property management company in Anaheim.

Company spokesperson, Rebecca Hollinger, states that the planning of playground equipment projects in Riverside can take as little as a few days to several months, as each customer has different demands and needs. Each project starts with a site visit to meet with the customer and view the site where the playground is intended to go. It is important that measurements be taken before the designing process begins to make sure that the playground equipment structure you are designing fits into the area. There are other pertinent things to be discussed with the client to assist in the designing process, such as the age of the kids, budget and what playground components and activities do they want incorporated into the new playground structure. Rebecca Hollinger explains further that, once the customer selects a design, the next decision is to choose a playground safety surfacing. The average time for delivery of a playground structure is 4-5 weeks from the date of ordering. The installation time can be as little as one week to several weeks depending on the size of the structure and the type of surfacing being installed.

Challenger Schools consulted with Sun Country Systems as it needed new playground equipment and surfacing. We offered the school the latest and most innovative surfacing available, synthetic grass manufactured by Ameriturf Grass Systems. This new synthetic turf provides a more kid friendly product as it is cooler and more tactile then any other playground surfacing product. The customer found this product to be more esthetically pleasing then any other surfacing offered and chose to use it under their new playground.

The owners’ of Challenger expressed that they wanted to have unique pieces on their playground; they did not want the standard post and deck options offered by most manufacturers. We designed several themed play structures for them, including an American flag themed boat and a pioneer covered wagon play structure. Challenger was so pleased by our designs that they chose to duplicate this playground, and these same pieces can be found on their Newark and Almaden locations as well as two of their Las Vegas, Nevada campuses.

Sun Country Systems, Inc. recently completed custom designed BCI Burke play structure at Mission Oaks Park, located in Camarillo, California. A Grand Opening was held on June 6, 2012 with over 300 people in attendance. The playground was designed to include a playground structure for 2-5 year olds and a playground structure for 5-12 year olds. Sun Country Systems designed these two structures and additional stand alone components encompassing 4000 square feet, much larger then the playground equipment it replaced. The designs incorporated a hybrid approach to play by blending slides and climbers with contemporary gliders, rope and rock playground components. The new playground equipment was designed with special needs of children in mind. ADA access is available to all pieces of playground equipment.

The scope of work for this project included site preparation, which included the removal of existing playground equipment and the installation of new playground equipment. The old equipment was removed by Kids Around the World, a non-profit organization and will be shipped to Costa Rica later this summer for installation for underprivileged children in a needy community. Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District considered several companies and various designs. The new commercial playground equipment installed in Camarillo, California offers a collection of ground level activities with access to rope net climbing components, interactive play panels, ADA sand digger and an additional stand alone play piece (donated by the Amber Lyons Club). All of these components are available to those individuals with limited abilities. Transfer stations are incorporated as well which allows access to higher level components such as the twisting turning slides that are available on the upper deck. Another influence of the playground design was a response to not only the needs to encourage special needs children to participate side by side with their peers but to keep children moving. The playground equipment includes climbing, sliding, twisting, balancing, hanging, swinging, leaping, stepping, reaching, grasping, balancing as well as allowing a total development of physical, mental and interactive growth.

Scope of Work:

Sun Country Systems was tasked with the removal of the existing playground equipment, excavation and playground site preparation. Installation of a new BCI Burke Little Buddies 2- 5 play structure. The Little Buddies play structure features 2 3/8” OD posts with our new direct bolt connection system. The structure included a 12’x12’ shade play canopy, several play panels, rock’n roll slide and climbers. Additionally, Ameriturf synthetic grass was installed as the playground safety surface with a 3 foot trike path around the entire play area for the kids to ride their tricycles on.

Installation of a BCI Burke 5-12 year old play structure. The play structure is the Burke Nucleus 5” OD system, with the industry leading direct-bolt clamp KoreKonnect and EZKonnect connection systems. The structure came with a hex shade canopy, satellite climber, rock’n roll slide, viper slide, numerous play panels and a two position single post swing. Installation of new play sand was included on this project.

Montecito Church Playground

Sun Country Systems, with offices in San Jose, Chino Hills and Santa Clarita announces the completion of another BCI Burke commercial playground equipment installation in the beautiful area of Montecito, County of Santa Barbara, California. After the Church considered many other playground company, Sun Country Systems was chosen as the supplier with its superior design of BCI Playground Equipment and overall cost of the project. This project consisted of the complete renovation of an existing play area. The old structure which was outdated was donated to a non profit faith based company, Kids Around the World, who understand the power of play in children’s lives, and who have already had this structure installed in Guatemala, giving the community a much needed playground, which they could never otherwise have afforded.
